Mistakes and learnings in the last year/couple of years.

All these years of my academic career I have been an avg/above avg performer and once in a while wondered what it takes to achieve excellence. Thanks to some of the myths this always remained a secret to me. I always used to think how can a person enjoy his life so much and even then excell in studies so much and decided that it is his talent that makes him successful and since I have always felt that I am not a genius(i still believe now)  and hence had the job of clapping for some one else most of the time.
And these two years in chennai and a couple of years eariler I tried to compete at the highest level and failed most of the times and the suceess which everyone wants has eluded me.
But on reading a wonderfull book and noticing a few ppl who have excelled in various walks of life I have realised a pattern that most of them follow.
  • The achievers did what they did for the right reasons.
Most of the time we do things just because some other people have done it and succeeded, my be because it is easy or may be because it was forced onto us.
All these years I have noticed that the ppl who have succeeded have always loved what they did and not because of some one else's opinion.
  • Even though any pursuit is to reach a destination doing something and expecting a result can cause problems.
No matter which field it is there are always more ppl and less number of resources which are covted. So it goes without saying that there will surely be a few ppl in fact a chunk of people who cannot make it no matter how much effort they have put in. Since doing a work needs skill and knowlege. The former takes considerable amount of time invested by practising regularly. So it is rest assured that result might take time as there will be people with same level of knowledge who are more skilled at using it just because of the amount of time they have already spent on it.
So the result orientation which has been the way of life for a long time will not work and patience is necessary.
  • A humanbody and mind has a limit of its own.
No matter how good a person is every human has a limit and it has to be accepted and should always be used in the best possible manner and accept the result that comes along and move on.
  • The attitude.
I think by this time everyone knows that attitude is key and all but how exaclty it should be is not clear. Here is what I have observed. The object/place of pursual is the most important thing and at the same time not so important. In the other words we have to give ourselves the best possible chance of getting the result by preparing as much as we can and yet leave the rest and believe that the efforts will not go waste and there will be a day where we have acquired the required skills and knowledge to go through.
  • Preparation
This is the most important part  of going through the finish line. The best preparation is to keep playing in the conditions as close to THE day as possible and kept playing there. This will make ourself adapt to the regurs of the day and helps us handle it better. So the best way to coup with hot sun is to keep staying in the sun as much as possbile and as regularly as possible to adapt to it.
Preparation has two parts viz., planning and execution. The planning is something which has to be done based on the real senario considering all the things that might come up, the odds against and should give a clear picture of what needs to be done and at the same time should give flexibility to the target achieved which gives space to any unplanned activity which might creep in. Execution is as important as planning as without execution no matter how good a plan is, is a waste. So while executing the plan which has taken into consideration all the odds should be stuck at all costs and failing to execute in a good percentage of the targets will result in a result which is not good enough!

Cheers!
